Freight Cats

Project Scope

Teaming up with the owner, I worked to revitalize their online presence while honoring their established branding and logo. This project was a blend of creativity and collaboration, resulting in a refreshed website that maintains a professional edge while infusing it with a touch of personality. Take a walk through the process and outcomes of this redesign project.

The Process

What's the problem and what is the competition doing?

Define the problem and decide on a platform.

Designing based of the user and my clients needs.

01

Discovery and Market Research

After consulting with my client, it was evident that they needed a streamlined informational website. This site would serve as a platform to engage prospective clients and seamlessly integrate with their LinkedIn profile.

Their was an urgency because the website they had up had not been collecting inquiries, and my client didn't know how to edit or fix anything on the site. I was important for him to be able to do that on what I created for him.

I started with conducting a comparative/competitive analysis within the freight industry. I scrutinized competitors' websites to gain insights into how they shared their services and goals. This investigation validated our approach, affirming the efficacy of a straightforward informational website, thoughtfully crafted to articulate his services with clarity. and making it easy for potential clients to contact him.

02

The Problem?

As I said above the issue with the original site was clear. The contact form was not working, and my client was frustrated with the fact that he could not update the site himself or even troubleshoot the issue of the contact form.

Addionally the side did not effectivly communicate what Freight Cats was and their services. It was not commmunicating what they wanted it to - That this a relaibale, family run and opperated company that will take care of you as one of their own.

What Platform?

The next step centered on selecting the most suitable platform for his needs. Understanding the client's priorities was key, considering his self-identification as 'Not tech-savvy' and the challenges he encountered with navigating and maintaining his previous WordPress site.

To address this, I proposed alternatives such as Squarespace or Wix, emphasizing their user-friendly interfaces and cost-effectiveness, factors that aligned with his needs. Following a thorough review of the options presented, the client ultimately opted to proceed with SquareSpace, leveraging its familiarity and potential for customization."

Building on a brand
and Standing Out

After helping the client set up a Squarespace account and transfer over his Domain name, I then moved on to selecting a template that aligned with the client's requirements. I began sourcing photos, gathering information on his services, and tailoring the pages and color scheme to convey the information clearly and professionally.

Another one of our objectives was to underscore Freight Cats' distinguishing features as a close-knit, family-operated enterprise renowned for its reliability and personalized service. This involved a meticulous rewrite of the 'About' page, accentuating these aspects of high-quality service and reliability. I also wanted to incorporate customer testimonials to further substantiate the company's reliable reputation.

Freight Cats loved the final product! I took him through Squarespace and showed him how to update and operate his site so that down the line he would feel confident keeping his site up to date.

He now has no issues with is incoming inquires and a site he is proud to share!

Updated Site

Results and Reflections

This project, though quick, held significant value. Beforehand, my client lacked any means to update his site or track inquiries, and he wasn't too thrilled about sharing his existing site. Within a week, I managed to create a new site that met all his needs, aligned with his branding, and effectively highlighted what makes his freight services unique.
